Welcome to North Bay Haven Charter Academy!
Dear Parents and Community Members,
It is my privilege to welcome you to North Bay Haven Charter Academy. I am honored to serve as the 6–12 Principal and excited to be entering my second year with the Havens family.
I am also pleased to formally introduce myself and share a bit about my background. With 18 years of experience in education and a diverse career in administration, athletics, and coaching, I bring a wide range of perspectives to this role. Over the past 12 years, I have served as an Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, Principal, and District-Level Administrator. My experiences have allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the academic and social needs of students, as well as the importance of supporting our teachers and staff.
In addition to my leadership experience, I’ve spent over a decade coaching student-athletes in baseball and football—experiences that have shaped my passion for teamwork, discipline, and school pride. I firmly believe that a positive school culture, rooted in relationships and high expectations, is key to a thriving learning environment.
My educational background includes a Master’s in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. I hold certifications in School Principal, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Elementary Education, Physical Education, and ESOL. These credentials reflect my commitment to continuous growth and a broad-based approach to student achievement.
Before entering education, I was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1999 and played professional baseball for five years as a pitcher. I’ve also served in law enforcement, which adds to my understanding of safety, leadership, and accountability—qualities I bring with me every day.
I’m proud to be a first-generation college graduate. My father served in the U.S. Army, and my mother worked as a probation officer—both modeled service, hard work, and integrity. I am married to Dr. Lindsey Tate, a School Counselor and former Principal, and together we are raising four wonderful children: Gunnar (Auburn University Graduate), Sarah (Florida State University), Erilyn (Troy State University), and AJ, who is entering 9th grade.
